Day 1 Bogota

Our staff will pick you up at the airport to take you to the hotel to rest. You will have the day for yourself, but our traveler´s experts will be happy to assist you if you want to do some activities on the day.

On the first day of this trip, we will spend some time discovering the charm and history of the center of the capital city of Colombia. It will start by using the public transport system to go to “La Candelaria”, a historic neighborhood. The starting point of the walking tour is “Plaza de Bolivar”, from which we will take some time walking around while admiring the colonial architecture, beautiful 17th and 18th century churches and 300 year old restored houses. The next stop will be Fernando Botero´s museum, the Colombia´s most famous painter and sculptor and other museums on the way. We will end our day enjoying the afternoon with a nice cup of hot chocolate.

We will take a 6 hours road trip to one of the nicest towns in Colombia. This laidback town is located in the famous Colombian coffee region and it is a lovely small town surrounded by mountains. We will stay here for a couple of days to enjoy the beautiful nature and its surroundings.

The day will start early morning heading to Valle de Cocora, one of the most beautiful valleys of Colombia. Expect to see the tallest palm in the world that can grow up to 60 meters. We can do hiking for about 3 hours or horse-back riding (fees not included).

On the way to Manizales, we will stop at the “Termales de Santa Rosa”, thermal springs that are a perfect place to relax and reboot your energy. The 3 waterfalls (the largest is 170 meter high) will make the stop a great experience.

You will have the day to walk around the city and discover the local traditions and delicious food. Manizales lies in the heart of the coffee triangle and is a friendly city surrounded by marvelous green mountains, so enjoy the time while you are there. It is a university city with a good selection of restaurants and bars near the main square, perfect places for taking a break and for drinking an authentic cup of Colombian coffee. Expect busy nightlife during the weekends.

We will be heading to the natural park “Recinto del Pensamiento”, located 11km from Manizales. This is an interesting opportunity to enjoy a pleasant walk to see butterflies, birds and beautiful gardens. We will be on the road on our way to Medellin after lunch.

You will have the day to explore the city on your own. There are lots of plans to choose from, here we mention a few of them: Visit Santa Fe de Antioquia, a laidback colonial town near Medellín, take the tour of Pablo Escobar, visit the botanical garden or take the cable car uphill to visit the poor neighborhoods. We will be happy to assist you on your plans for the day.

After breakfast we will be heading to the holiday town of Guatape, a man-made reservoir. We will enjoy a 2 hour boat ride to do some sightseeing. Afterwards, we will climb el Peñol, a giant rock 200 meters high. Fell in love with the area by admiring the view from the top of the mountain.

After breakfast, we will take a flight to Cartagena. The historical city of Cartagena and its beautiful historical center attract thousands of tourists every year and is the most visited place in Colombia The colorful colonial architecture in the old town -declared by UNESCO as a world heritage site- is a great place to be surrounded by while having a coffee or a delicious fresh juice in an old style plaza. Being in Cartagena is recalling the old times when conquers arrived and slavery was abolished back in the 19th century.

Enjoy the day on your own to fall in love with one of the most beautiful colonial cities of South America. Cartagena is for tourists on any budget but food, drinks and nights out can become pricey even for foreigners. While being there, you can visit the archipelago of Islas del Rosario by boat, in which you can find coral reefs and an aquarium with all kind of marine species. Our traveler´s experts will be happy to assist you if you want to do some activities on the day.

You will visit one of the most beautiful parks in Colombia. Tayrona is 15.000 acres along the coastline and has over 300 bird species and 770 plant species. It is also a great place to spot sea turtles and swim with fishes next to the shore while doing some snorkel. If you prefer to explore the jungle, there are also many hiking trails to discover. Tayrona is a perfect destination to spend to relax and enjoy the coast of Colombia.

Enjoy your last day in the historical center of Cartagena before heading to the amazing island of San Andres.

In the morning, we will take a flight to the archipelago of San Andres island. San Andrés is the perfect destination for anyone looking for beautiful beaches, clear water and an authentic Caribbean atmosphere. For divers and snorkelers it’s a paradise of marine life and coral reefs. If you are interested in getting your padi certificate this would be the perfect place to do it. The day after arrival, we will take a boat to the Johnny Cay island, where locals are extremely friendly and day and night life has the rhythm of the reggae music.
