Our staff will pick you up at the airport to take you to the hotel to rest. You will have the day for yourself, but our traveler´s experts will be happy to assist you if you want to do some activities on the day.
We will spend some time discovering the charm and history of the center of the capital city of Colombia. It will start by using the public transport system to go to “La Candelaria”, a historic neighborhood. The starting point of the walking tour is “Plaza de Bolivar”, from which we will take some time walking around while admiring the colonial architecture, beautiful 17th and 18th century churches and 300 year old restored houses. The next stop will be Fernando Botero´s museum, the Colombia´s most famous painter and sculptor. Once we have admired his work art and have enjoyed a break for lunch, we will be ready to take the cable car to Cerro de Monserrate, which is the famous hill of the city with a white church on the top (only about 1.5 km from “La Candelaria”). The view is incredible and you can even see on clear days all the way to “Los Nevados”. We will back around 6 pm to the hotel.
After enjoying a nice breakfast, we will be on a road trip for about 9 hours. You will be admiring the amazing landscapes of Colombia while we get to Guatape, our final destination. You will have the rest of the day to explore this little and charming town surrounded by beautiful lakes.
Get ready to climb el Peñol, a giant rock 200 meters high. Fell in love with the area by admiring the view from the top of the mountain. After lunch, we will enjoy a nice boat ride on the lake.Next stop is the city of the infamous Pablo Escobar. Medellin was once one of the most dangerous cities in the world but after a painful decade of violence, it is now a beautiful prosperous city that leads many innovative projects in the country in areas like education, culture and architecture. Enjoy the rest of the evening in trendy bars and restaurants of the city.
You will have the day to explore the city on your own. There are lots of plans to choose from, here we mention a few of them: Visit Santa Fe de Antioquia, a laidback colonial town near Medellín, take the tour of Pablo Escobar, visit the botanical garden or take the cable car uphill to visit the poor neighborhoods. We will be happy to assist you on your plans for the day.
We will be on the road on the 6th day for a 4 hours trip to the coffee region of Colombia, an amazing part of the country you will love to see. We will stay at a nice family run hotel that offers boutique accommodations. In the afternoon, we will visit a working coffee farm. The visit includes a 2 hours walking tour through the coffee fields and on-site processing plant with a local guide. The visit finishes with a delicious cup of colombian coffee.
We will leave early in the morning to visit Los Nevados , a beautiful national park. Prepare yourself for a day full of adventure that includes an excursion to the Nevado del Ruiz. Transport,breakfast and lunch are included.
You will have the day to walk around the city and discover the local traditions and delicious food. Manizales lies in the heart of the coffee triangle and is a friendly city surrounded by marvelous green mountains, so enjoy the time while you are there. It is a university city with a good selection of restaurants and bars near the main square, perfect places for taking a break and for drinking an authentic cup of Colombian coffee. Expect busy nightlife during the weekends.
On the way to Salento, we will stop at the “Termales de Santa Rosa”, thermal springs that are a perfect place to relax and reboot your energy. The 3 waterfalls (the largest is 170 meter high) will make the stop a great experience.
The day will start early morning heading to Valle de Cocora, one of the most beautiful valleys of Colombia. Expect to see the tallest palm in the world that can grow up to 60 meters. Get ready for a 3 hours hike through grasslands and cloud forests while seeing different species of birds. We will be back to the hotel to spend the last night in the coffee area.
We will be driving back to Bogotá for about 7 hours, with some stops and breaks to rest. Some lucky travelers will be able to see snowy mountain peaks on the way. The tour will finish in Bogota after our last dinner together.
