Our staff will pick you up at the airport to take you to the hotel to rest. You will have the day for yourself, but our traveler´s experts will be happy to assist you if you want to do some activities on the day.
We will spend some time discovering the charm and history of the center of the capital city of Colombia. It will start by using the public transport system to go to “La Candelaria”, a historic neighborhood. The starting point of the walking tour is “Plaza de Bolivar”, from which we will take some time walking around while admiring the colonial architecture, beautiful 17th and 18th century churches and 300 year old restored houses. The next stop will be Fernando Botero´s museum, the Colombia´s most famous painter and sculptor. Once we have admired his work art and have enjoyed a break for lunch, we will be ready to take the cable car to “Cerro de Monserrate”, which is the famous hill of the city with a white church on the top (only about 1.5 km from “La Candelaria”). The view is incredible and you can even see on clear days all the way to “Los Nevados”. We will back around 6 pm to the hotel.
We will have an 8 hours road trip to Salento. This laidback town is located in the famous colombian coffee region. When we arrive to the town, you will have free time to explore the town by yourself.
The day will start early morning heading to Valle de Cocora, one of the most beautiful valleys of Colombia. Expect to see the tallest palm in the world that can grow up to 60 meters. Get ready for a 3 hours hike through grasslands and cloud forests while seeing different species of birds.
We will go to the National Park of Los Nevados to do some hiking. The tour includes the entrance to the national park and the thermal baths as well as transport, breakfast and lunch. You will go uphill to see the “Nevado Del Ruiz” up close, a volcano that can be seen from Manizales on a clear day. The hike through the park will be definitely one of the highlights of this tour due to the spectacular views and incredible scenario you will be in.
On the way to Manizales we will stop at the “Termales de Santa Rosa”, thermal springs that are a perfect place to relax and reboot your energy. The 3 waterfalls (the largest is 170 meter high) will make the stop a great experience. The final destination of the day will be Manizales, which is located in the Cauca valley of the Andes mountain range. It is a university city with a good selection of restaurants and bars near the main square, perfect places for taking a break and for drinking an authentic cup of Colombian coffee. Expect busy nightlife during the weekends.
On the 11th day of the trip we will be heading to the natural park “Recinto del Pensamiento”, located 11km from Manizales. This is an interesting opportunity to enjoy a pleasant walk to see butterflies, birds and beautiful gardens. We will be on the road on our way to Medellin after lunch.
You will have the day to explore the city on your own. There are lots of plans to choose from, here we mention a few of them: Visit Santa Fe de Antioquia, a laidback colonial town near Medellín, take the tour of Pablo Escobar, visit the botanical garden or take the cable car uphill to visit the poor neighborhoods. We will be happy to assist you on your plans for the day.
After breakfast we will be heading to the holiday town of Guatape, a man-made reservoir. We will enjoy a 2 hour boat ride to do some sightseeing. Afterwards, we will climb el Peñol, a giant rock 200 meters high. Fell in love with the area by admiring the view from the top of the mountain.
We will have an 8 hours road trip to Bucaramanga, which is known as “the city of parks” or “the beautiful city of Colombia”. Bucaramanga is the capital city of the Santander region and it is where Colombian Dude operates from. We will stay in a fun hostel very popular amongst foreigners and locals. We will enjoy a delicious dinner together so you can try the local gastronomy.
The city is well known for being one of the best places in South America to do paragliding. It is i included in the tour so we really hope you enjoy the experience. In the afternoon, we will drive to Mesa de los Santos, a lovely rural area near the Chicamocha canyon. The canyon has spectacular views and you can choose to take a cable car (considered one of the longest cable cars in the world) through the canyon. Back in the city, there are plenty of activities to do in Bucaramanga and surroundings. It is a perfect place for mountain biking, so get ready for our exciting bike tour “Pan de Azucar to Bucaramanga” (all necessary equipment included in the tour). Expect 6 hours of extreme adventure. After enjoying a nice breakfast, we will be on a day road trip to Guican. You will be admiring the amazing landscapes of Colombia on the way. At arrival, you will have free time to rest and get ready for a 4 day hike in the national park El Cocuy.
This is an exciting part of the trip to discover the amazing National Park El Cocuy. You will have a numerous of adventurous activities like camping, mountain climbing and trekking (moderate to advance level). Lakes, snowy mountain peaks and traditional Colombian farms will be also part of the experience.
We will be staying for the next 3 days in a traditional farm in Villanueva. You will have the chance to share your impressions of Colombia with people who own and run the farm. The next destination will be San Gil, the capital for extreme sports in Colombia. Our traveler´s experts are happy to assist you on the numerous activities to do there.
We will visit Barichara, labeled as the most beautiful village of Colombia due to the charming buildings that are built from mud and white washed by craftsmen. Get a feeling of the place by enjoying a walk around the town, the shops full of handicrafts, bags and souvenirs.
Early in the morning, we will leave the farm to travel to Villa de Leyva. This colonial town will get your attention from the very first time because of the architecture, atmosphere and the incredible 14.000 square meter plaza. Enjoy it by sitting at any of the numerous cafes placed around while drinking an authentic tinto (black coffee). We will spend the night in a nice boutique hostel. At arrival, enjoy the rest of the day on your own exploring the town.
We will have an exciting day ahead. Just 6 km away from Villa de Leyva is Santa Sofia, where you will be able to see the most complete marine reptile dinosaur. It’s a kronosaurus fossil of about 120 million years old! Afterwards, we will visit an ostrich farm with more than 120 ostriches and some other animals.
