Our motorbike tour starts in Bucaramanga, which is known as “the city of parks” or “the beautiful city of Colombia”. Bucaramanga is the capital city of the Santander region and it is where Colombian Dude operates from. We will have a short introduction about the tour before taking the road to Villanueva, where we will be staying a couple of days in a traditional farm. You will have the chance to share your impressions of Colombia with people who own and run the farm. On the way to Villanueva, we will be driving through the Chicamocha canyon. The canyon is spectacular and we will stop a few times to take some amazing pictures of the trip. We will have lunch in San Gil, the famous town of extreme sports that you will be able to enjoy on the third day of this tour.
We will visit Barichara, labeled as the most beautiful village of Colombia due to the charming buildings that are built from mud and white washed by craftsmen. Get a feeling of the place by enjoying a walk around the town, the shops full of handicrafts, bags and souvenirs. We will visit the small town of Guane afterwards, so you can explore another lovely town of the region.
The next destination will be San Gil, the capital for extreme sports in Colombia. Our traveler´s experts are happy to assist you on the numerous activities to do there. You can go rafting, horse-back riding, paintball ,mountain biking, caving, kayaking, abseiling, see waterfalls and many more. If you are up for some time at the river, we can take you to a waterfall called Juan Curi, that is 70 meter high with a variety of activities to do like swimming, rappelling or walking.
The ride to Paipa is a nice one with beautiful scenery. Paipa is the perfect destination if you are looking for some relaxation and time to spoil yourself. With many centers for mud therapy, hydrotherapy, saunas, steam baths and massages, it is difficult not to disconnect and pamper yourself while enjoying the local gastronomy and the low temperatures.
Our next destination will be Lake Tota. The lake was Sacred by the Muisca culture and played a role in the history of the indigenous group. Nowadays, the lake is surrounded by lovely towns and green countryside where the people that live there are mostly farmers that grow potato, onions and peas.
It will be an amazing ride to the historical city of Villa de Leyva. We will be driving through the Sanctuary of Iguaque on an altitude of around 3500 meters. The landscape is unique and you will have the opportunity to admire the variety of plants, mountains and valleys on the way. After few hours, we will take a rest at the 14.000 square meter plaza of Villa de Leyva, a town that was founded in 1572 and was built by the Spanish conquerors.
We will leave after breakfast to visit the town of Raquira. This town is the pottery capital of Colombia and you can find the best craftsmen of the country and get lost in the lovely market. Admire the hand-woven bags, sweaters and other goods that are not easy to find anywhere else.
Early morning we will leave for Bogota. It’s a nice ride through the mountains, with nice weather and beautiful landscapes along the way. Expect some busy roads when arriving to Bogota (you may have heard of the congestion and traffic jams of the capital of Colombia). Our last stop will be the neighborhood of La Candelaria, in the center of the city.
We will spend some time discovering the charm and history of the center of the capital city of Colombia. It will start exploring “La Candelaria”, a historic neighborhood. The starting point of the walking tour is “Plaza de Bolivar”, from which we will take some time walking around while admiring the colonial architecture, beautiful 17th and 18th century churches and 300 year old restored houses. The next stop will be Fernando Botero´s museum, the Colombia´s most famous painter and sculptor.
We will start early morning heading towards the Tatacoa desert on a ride that will take around 7 hours. The desert is a beautiful place full of eroded cliffs and gullies and a perfect destination to spend the night in a tent after enjoying the clear sky full of stars. If you prefer to stay in a hotel, we can arrange it to sleep in a nearby city called Neiva, but we truly advice you to spend the night at the desert.
We will drive to the town of San Augustin. We stay the night outside the town of San Augustin with a family run Colombian posada (hotel).Around San Augustin are many archeological sites. The rest of the day is free day to relax. The family offers good home cooked meals.
We will be on the road heading towards the town of San Agustin, widely famous for the amazing archaeological park you can visit there. This region is one of the most beautiful historical places in South America. We will stay the night in a lovely Colombian owned farm, and at arrival, you have the chance to discover the place by yourself, or to relax and spend some time with the locals
You have time to explore the town by yourself. You can visit the archeological park to admire tombs, stone statues and sarcophagus and more than 500 stone statues carved by the Indian sculptors. For more adventurous activities, there are some great hikes and horseback riding. You can also do some white-water rafting.
Early morning we will be heading to the town of Tierradentro, which is the second most important archaeological site in Colombia. It is remarkable for the astonishing underground tombs and the beauty of the surroundings hills. You have the rest of the day to explore the place by yourself.
Get ready to have a walking day tour with a local guide to visit the famous sites and the beautiful surroundings while learning about the ancient cultures that lived there and fascinating stories of the old times.
The next destination will be Popayan, an enchanting town that has kept the amazing colonial architecture through the times, attracting tourists to admire the well preserved churches and houses. We will stay in a 18thcentury hotel. You can enjoy the rest of the day wandering around this lovely place.
Free day to discover Popayan, named the "white city" because of its chalk-wall facades. There are interesting indigenous destinations accessible by motorbike from the city. Our traveler´s experts will be happy to assist you if you want to visit some of them.
After breakfast, we will be heading to the world capital city of salsa. The drive will take us through nice scenery and beautiful surroundings. Prepare yourself for the night, because we will take you to one of the best salsa dance clubs in the world. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn some steps to dance salsa and to have a great night the way people from Cali do.
It will be an easy ride to this little and lovely town. Salento is surrounded by beautiful nature and it is a great place to relax and enjoy. You can have the opportunity to visit a working coffee farm or visit one of the most beautiful valleys of Colombia where you can see the tallest palm in the world that can grow up to 60 meters.
Spend the day exploring the town on your by yourself and at your own pace. This laidback town is located in the famous Colombian coffee region and it is a lovely small town surrounded by mountains.
On the way to Manizales, we will stop at the “Termales de Santa Rosa”, thermal springs that are a perfect place to relax and reboot your energy. The 3 waterfalls (the largest is 170 meter high) will make the stop a great experience. Our destination will be Manizales, a city that lies in the heart of the famous coffee region of Colombia and is located in the Cauca valley of the Andes mountain range. It is a university city with a good selection of restaurants and bars near the main square, perfect places for taking a break and for drinking an authentic cup of Colombian coffee. Expect busy nightlife during the weekends.
We will leave early in the morning to visit Los Nevados , a beautiful national park. Prepare yourself for a day full of adventure that includes an excursion to the Nevado del Ruiz. The tour includes transport, breakfast and lunch, and admission to the national park and the thermal baths. It will be a moderate hike to see the Nevado Del Ruiz and the glaciers up close. The scenery is spectacular and will be definitely one of the highlights of this tour.
On this day, we will be heading to the natural park “Recinto del Pensamiento”, located 11km from Manizales. This is an interesting opportunity to enjoy a pleasant walk to see butterflies, birds and beautiful gardens. We will be on the road on our way to Medellin after lunch.
You will have the day to explore the city on your own. There are lots of plans to choose from, here we mention a few of them: Visit Santa Fe de Antioquia, a laidback colonial town near Medellín, take the tour of Pablo Escobar, visit the botanical garden or take the cable car uphill to visit the poor neighborhoods. We will be happy to assist you on your plans for the day.
The road to Caucasia is well paved, so the ride will take around 6 hours. It’s a nice route and you’ll notice the difference between the Andes mountains and the Caribbean coast on the way
We will wake up early for a long and fun ride to Cartagena. . The historical city of Cartagena and its beautiful historical center attract thousands of tourists every year and is the most visited place in Colombia The colorful colonial architecture in the old town -declared by UNESCO as a world heritage site- is a great place to be surrounded by while having a coffee or a delicious fresh juice in an old style plaza. Being in Cartagena is recalling the old times when conquers arrived and slavery was abolished back in the 19th century.
Enjoy the day on your own to fall in love with one of the most beautiful colonial cities of South America. Cartagena is for tourists on any budget but food, drinks and nights out can become pricey even for foreigners. We will leave our motorbikes in Taganga and will be heading to the amazing Tayrona national park. The beaches here are amongst the best in Colombia. Take your time to relax on the beach, but if you want to have some adventure, explore the place by doing some hiking. We will spend the night in a tent or in hammocks.
We will visit an amazing wildlife reserve. The Los flamencos nature sanctuary is a great place to spot flamencos and all kinds of different birds. We will be staying in cabanas at the park.
Today we will be heading to the northern tip of South America. This little town up north of the coast of Colombia is off the beaten track for tourists. Cabo de la Vela offers a breathtaking landscape in the desert. Get ready for few hours of riding in unpaved roads to have the pleasure to enjoy the unique views of this part of Colombia and to be in this famous and beautiful desert.
We will leave the Caribbean coast and we will drive to Valledupar. Valledupar is a small city that has a lovely main square and a couple of beautiful churches.
The last day of the tour offers an enjoyable 8 hours ride to Bucaramanga. The road is in great conditions, and you can admire the diversity of landscapes along the way, from the sea to the dry areas of the coast, before seeing mountains and green fields for the last couple of hours of the trip.
