We will start in Bogota before visiting the Tatacoa desert to do stargazing and enjoy the beautiful landscape. The next couple of days we will dig in the history of Colombia.
Cities like San Augustin and Popayan with its archeological sites and architecture are perfect destinations to admire the place where pre-hispanic cultures lived for fifteen centuries.
Next destination will be Cali, the capital of Salsa music! After dancing and enjoying the best nightlife ever, we will visit the coffee region and its beautiful surroundings. From thermal springs to coffee farms, there is plenty to do there. Medellin will be next, known as the city of everlasting spring (as it is called because of the average daily temperature of 22 degrees). Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the regions of Santander and Boyaca, great locations for outdoor activities, extreme sports and plenty to see when it comes to colonial towns and amazing locations like the Chicamocha canyon. The last stop will be Villa de Leyva, a charming colonial village that has a lovely countryside. You will fell in love with Colombia in this amazing tour of Colombian Dude.
Our staff will pick you up at the airport to take you to the hotel to rest. You will have the day for yourself, but our traveler´s experts will be happy to assist you if you want to do some activities on the day.
On the first day of this trip, we will spend some time discovering the charm and history of the center of the capital city of Colombia. It will start by using the public transport system to go to “La Candelaria”, a historic neighborhood. The starting point of the walking tour is “Plaza de Bolivar”, from which we will take some time walking around while admiring the colonial architecture, beautiful 17th and 18th century churches and 300 year old restored houses. The next stop will be Fernando Botero´s museum, the Colombia´s most famous painter and sculptor and other museums on the way. We will end our day enjoying the afternoon with a nice cup of hot chocolate.
We will start early morning heading towards the Tatacoa desert on a private transport. The trip will take around 5 hours. The desert is a beautiful place full of eroded cliffs and gullies and a perfect destination to spend the night in a tent after enjoying the clear sky full of stars. If you prefer to stay in a hotel, we can arrange it to sleep in a nearby city called Neiva.
We will drive to the town of San Agustin, widely famous for the amazing archaeological park you can visit there. We will stay the night in a traditional Colombian posada (hotel) that offers good home cooked meals so you can enjoy the traditional gastronomy of the region. You will have the day to discover the place by yourself, or to relax and spend some time with the locals.
Today we will dig ourselves in the Colombian history. We will visit the archeological park where you can admire tombs, stone statues and sarcophagus and more than 500 stone statues carved by the Indian sculptors. The park has three separate areas: San Agustín, Alto de los Ídolos and Alto de Las Piedras. The visit will be a life experience, after witnessing the art, power and skills of the pre-hispanic culture.
The next destination will be Popayan, an enchanting city that has kept the amazing colonial architecture through the times, attracting tourists to admire the well preserved churches and houses. We will stay in a 18th century hotel. You can enjoy the rest of the day wandering around this lovely place.

After lunch, we will be heading to Cali. You will be admiring the amazing landscapes of Colombia while we drive to the capital city of Salsa music. Prepare yourself for the night, because we will take you to one of the best salsa dance clubs in the world. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn some steps to dance salsa and to have a great night the way people from Cali do.
We will take a 3 hours road trip to one of the nicest towns in Colombia. This laidback town is located in the famous Colombian coffee region and it is a lovely small town surrounded by mountains. We will stay here for a couple of days to enjoy the beautiful nature and its surroundings.
We will visit a working coffee farm. The visit includes a walking tour through the coffee fields and on-site processing plant with a local guide. The visit finishes with a delicious cup of colombian coffee. Enjoy the rest of the day exploring the town on your own
The day will start early morning heading to Valle de Cocora, one of the most beautiful valleys of Colombia. Expect to see the tallest palm in the world that can grow up to 60 meters. Get ready for a 3 hours hike through grasslands and cloud forests while seeing different species of birds. Back to the hotel to spend the last night in Salento.
On the way to Manizales, we will stop at the “Termales de Santa Rosa”, thermal springs that are a perfect place to relax and reboot your energy. The 3 waterfalls (the largest is 170 meter high) will make the stop a great experience.
We will leave early in the morning to visit Los Nevados , a beautiful national park. Prepare yourself for a day full of adventure that includes an excursion to the Nevado del Ruiz. The tour includes transport, breakfast and lunch, and admission to the national park and the thermal baths. It will be a moderate hike to see the Nevado Del Ruiz and the glaciers up close. The scenery is spectacular and will be definitely one of the highlights of this tour.
On the 15th day of the trip we will be heading to the natural park “Recinto del Pensamiento”, located 11km from Manizales. This is an interesting opportunity to enjoy a pleasant walk to see butterflies, birds and beautiful gardens. We will be on the road on our way to Medellin after lunch.
You will have the day to explore the city on your own. There are lots of plans to choose from, here we mention a few of them: Visit Santa Fe de Antioquia, a laidback colonial town near Medellín, take the tour of Pablo Escobar, visit the botanical garden or take the cable car uphill to visit the poor neighborhoods. We will be happy to assist you on your plans for the day.
After breakfast we will be heading to the holiday town of Guatape, a man-made reservoir. We will enjoy a 2 hour boat ride to do some sightseeing. Afterwards, we will climb el Peñol, a giant rock 200 meters high. Fell in love with the area by admiring the view from the top of the mountain.
We will have an 8 hours road trip to Bucaramanga, which is known as “the city of parks” or “the beautiful city of Colombia”. Bucaramanga is the capital city of the Santander region and it is where Colombian Dude operates from. We will stay in a fun hostel very popular amongst foreigners and locals. We will enjoy a delicious dinner together so you can try the local gastronomy.
We will drive to Mesa de los Santos, a lovely rural area near the Chicamocha canyon. The canyon has spectacular views and you can choose to take a cable car (considered one of the longest cable cars in the world) through the canyon. We will arrive to Villanueva, where we will be staying for the next 3 days in a traditional farm. You will have the chance to share your impressions of Colombia with people who own and run the farm.
We will visit Barichara, labeled as the most beautiful village of Colombia due to the charming buildings that are built from mud and white washed by craftsmen. Get a feeling of the place by enjoying a walk around the town, the shops full of handicrafts, bags and souvenirs.
The next destination will be San Gil, the capital for extreme sports in Colombia. Our traveler´s experts are happy to assist you on the numerous activities to do there. You can go rafting, horse-back riding, paintball ,mountain biking, caving, kayaking, abseiling, see waterfalls and many more. After a day full of excitement, we will enjoy a nice bbq dinner at the farm.
Early in the morning, we will leave the farm to travel to Villa de Leyva. This colonial town will get your attention from the very first time because of the architecture, atmosphere and the incredible 14.000 square meter plaza. Enjoy it by sitting at any of the numerous cafes placed around while drinking an authentic tinto (black coffee). We will spend the night in a nice boutique hostel. At arrival, enjoy the rest of the day on your own exploring the town.
We will have an exciting day ahead. Just 6 km away from Villa de Leyva is Santa Sofia, where you will be able to see the most complete marine reptile dinosaur. It’s a kronosaurus fossil of about 120 million years old! Afterwards, we will visit an ostrich farm with more than 120 ostriches and some other animals.
